Public archery ranges in the dc metro area

Here is a listing of the public target archery ranges in the local DC area.

  • Lake Needwood Park

    15700 Needwood Lake Circle
    Rockville, MD

This is my favorite local range.  Four target backstops are provided and there is a nice layout so that ranges from 20m to 90m may be practiced.  There is also a picnic table, a bow rack, and several shade trees at the range.  Across the street is another picnic area and a kids' playground.  Signs in the park will direct you to the archery range.

  • Adelphi Park

    off HWY 193 (University Blvd)
between Riggs Road and Adelphi Road
    College Park, MD

Five or Six basic backstops are provided here.  Ranges up to 90m may be shot.  The park is wide open without much shade.  Across busy University Blvd is another part of the park with more amenities.

  • South Germantown Recreational Park

    18041 Central Park Circle
    Boyds, MD

Two backstops are provided.  Ranges up to 70m may be shot here.  This park also provides several playgrounds, an indoor pool, and ball fields, although all are some distance from the archery range.

All of these archery ranges are similar in that they all provide target backstops and all are free for public use.

None of these local ranges provides any archery-related facilities or archery equipment.

If anyone knows of additional public target ranges not listed here, please send an email to alex@dcarchers.com so that I may add them to the list.

In order to qualify for this list, a range must be open to the public.
